Information Hub / Computational Media and Arts · 3 Credits
This course introduces the practice, theory, and history of 360° fulldome cinema, emphasizing hands-on experimentation alongside critical inquiry. Students will explore hemispherical cinematography and animation, hemispheric optics, spatial audio, and somatic montage, while investigating how images, sound, and architectonic space shape immersive spectatorship. Approaching cinema as a hyper-medium and a form of concrete poetry, the course examines how meaning emerges through spatialized representation, temporality, embodied perception, and the interplay of art, science, and technology. Throughout the semester, students develop 2D and 3D image and sound techniques to compose “in the round,” culminating in an original immersive work for fulldome exhibition.
