Introduction of Actuators for Robots and Autonomous Systems Applications

Systems Hub / Robotics and Autonomous Systems · 3 Credits

Actuators are the “muscle” for robots, and they play a vital role of converting other form of energy into actual motion for robots. This course is a broad introduction to actuators for robots and autonomous systems applications, with emphasis on the electric motors, and its typologies, mathematical modeling, operating principles, and control algorithms. Examples of actuators for electrified transportation, robots will be elucidated, so that students can learn about the cutting-edge technologies, developing trends in this area. Through this course, students can master clear concepts of actuator and its design and control methodologies, enabling them to make informed decisions in developing high-performance actuators for robot-related applications.
